This course provides users with a detailed understanding of the primary functions of the Series 2400 SourceMeter Instruments and how to utilize them under remote control. Participants will learn how to use the source and measure capabilities of the SourceMeter Instrument to meet a variety of possible test requirements. Practical examples using various device types will be included. Additional topics include measurement optimization and troubleshooting. The session consists of lectures, hands-on exercises, and quizzes.

Audience: 
This class is for novice or new users of the product - people who know the basics of how to use bench-top instruments but have little experience with a SourceMeter Instrument.

Prerequisites:
Understanding of basic functions of the Series 2400 products, as well as some experience with performing electrical measurements.

What You Will Learn:

  • Principles of SourceMeter Instrument operation
  • Key performance specifications.
  • Different operating modes of the instrument
    • Source and measure, source only, measure only
    • ­ Fixed level, staircase and custom sweeps, pulse
  • How to configure source and measure settings and make actual measurements.
  • Front panel operation
    • Remote control using SCPI commands(1)
    • Speed vs. noise tradeoffs
  • Resolving common measurement problems

(1)Focus is on the use of SCPI commands to program the instrument, and not on the programming environment (e.g. Visual Basic, LabVIEW, C/C++, etc)
